fips 201 - gsa approval

Kena Kai's DataSafeŽ Wallets use our exclusive DataSafe Technology. This technology has been approved as "Electromagnetically Opaque Sleeves" for contactless Smart Cards approved by the Government Services Administration (GSA) through our Government partner Secure Network Systems (SNS). We use the same multi-layer RFID shielding technology in all of our wallets. It is this same technology that was approved through SNS. This designation makes these RFID blocking wallets the best protection against identity theft and tracking. The DataSafe wallets are marketed to the Government by our distribution partner Secure Network Systems. For more information on government approved products in relation to HPSD-12, FIPS 201 and the list for FIPS 201 Approved Products, click here.

The DataSafe technology built into these RFID shielding wallets has been tested and approved to meet the security protocols set forth by this Presidential directive. This approval assures the highest level of protection against identity theft and unauthorized access to information contained on today's new contactless credit cards, ePassports, and electronic IDs. The following information on the FIPS 201 program and the purpose of the RFID shielding - or RFID blocking - wallets is taken directly from the Government's "FIPS 201 Evaluation Program - Electromagnetically Opaque Sleeve Approval Procedure, Version 3.0.0, September 08, 2006":

1.1 Category Description

The Electromagnetically Opaque Sleeve is a hardware component that, when used, protects information stored on the card against skimming attacks across the contactless interface. It does so by shielding the contactless interface and blocking communication to the card across it. The Electromagnetically Opaque Sleeve is intended to be issued to each cardholder at the time of PIV (Personal Identity Verification) issuance.

1.2 Overview

Homeland Security Presidential Directive-12 (HSPD-12) - "Policy for a Common Identification Standard for Federal Employees and Contractors" directed the promulgation of a new Federal standard for a secure and reliable form of identification issued by all Federal Agencies to their employees and contractors. The goal of HSPD-12 is to increase security and Government efficiency, reduce identity fraud and terrorist exploitations and protect the privacy of the individual.

The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) has designated GSA as the Executive Agent for government-wide acquisitions for the implementation of HSPD-12. Additionally, OMB has directed Federal agencies to purchase only products and services that are compliant with the Federal policy, standards and supporting technical specifications.

In addition to derived test requirements developed to test conformance to the NIST standard, GSA has established interoperability and performance metrics to further determine product suitability. Suppliers whose products and services are deemed to be conformant with NIST standards and the GSA interoperability and performance criteria will be eligible to sell their products and services to the Federal Government.

Identity theft and loss of personal privacy is an ever increasing concern among our society. The DataSafe wallets were specifically designed to protect against these threats. All of these wallets offer the best in material, craftsmanship, and technology. If you are looking for a wallet, why not purchase one that has been tested and approved. As with all of Kena Kai's products, we offer a complete satisfaction guarantee to you our customer. If at any time you are not satisfied, we will make it right.
